The Laotian American National Alliance, Inc. (LANA) 501c3 is the premier resource and advocacy organization in the United States who strives to cultivate the strengths and leadership of all Laotian Americans. LANA’s mission, as a national organization, is dedicated to advancing the social and economic well-being of Laotian Americans in the United States through civic participation and public policy advocacy.
We are passionate about promoting, networking, and advocating for the greater Laotian American community. We are 100% volunteer based. LANA for the past 12 years has been functioning as a national working board, volunteering time, talent, and personal resources. Our limited operating budget comes from generous donations from Board Members and individual private donors. Without volunteers and community support, we will not achieve our vision, mission; goals. We want to have a paid staff person in our Washington, D.C. office and open a West Coast office in San Francisco, California.
More than 36 years since our parents and grandparents brought us to the United States of America, we still face many challenges to confront on issues such as highest high school drop out rates, Hepatitis B carriers; cervical cancer, and other disparities & inequities in areas such as education, health, economic, and social justice.
We call on all Laotian Americans to join us in supporting the spirit, hope, and aspiration of national unity. As America has United States, Laotian Americans too can have a united multi-ethnic community. If we want to go far, we go together.
We look forward to connect with the many Lao and Laotian American organizations in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area in hopes of establishing a strong bond of friendship, support, and collaboration towards a stronger, healthier; more visible community. LANA is appreciative of many Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) national organizations and governmental departments headquartered in D.C. has joined our calling for celebrating youth and community and supporting this conference as speakers/participants. We also would like to say thank you to the local Laotian American community for hosting and supporting the conference.
The purpose of the conference is to connect and network with the diverse Laotian American organizations in the D.C. area, national AAPI organizations, and the various Federal government agencies. We want to specifically reach out to the youth in the area and show them we care and value them as crucial part of the future of the Laotian American community. We hope our workshops, youth thought talks, and frank discussions on national unity, language & cultural preservation, education, health, citizenship, leadership and advocacy will connect all generations.
Please consider donating to our efforts, your financial support is welcome and much needed to sustain our work and continue to bring to our community the 2012 3rd Annual Laotian National Conference.
Kind Regards,
Chief Executive Officer Chair, Board of Directors Conference Chair, Board of Directors
